THE FAIREST 01: Open Your Eyes Again | 13.09-18.09.2022

Editors’ Choice

THE FAIREST (TF) is a new kind of public platform founded by curators Eleonora Sutter and Georgie Pope to give young, emerging or independent artists and creatives visibility in the art market. TF provides a forum for a variety of relevant, urgent and experimental practices, showcasing artists without gallery representation who often lack access to art fairs and collectors.

TF is aimed at a broad audience within and beyond the art world. TF stands for an exciting, original selection of artists and is a fair that works according to the central values and visions of its founders. This includes addressing new audiences for art, developing new ideas of “art collecting” and promoting diverse forms of engagement with art, but also giving fresh impetus to established collectors.

In the run-up to the fair, which takes place annually, THE FAIREST cooperates internationally with various spaces and cities and has so far realised five smaller “teaser” events to introduce artists participating in the fair. At the fair, the artworks are not shown as individual objects in booths, but are presented as part of a curated group exhibition in a lively, immersive setting. This does justice to the meanings of the works, encourages dialogue and includes sound, participation, performances and discussions. Alongside the main event, online and offline activities will take place, providing opportunities for exchange and encompassing different formats. THE FAIREST challenges heteronormative structures dominated by white men. The fundamental mission of TF is to create a sustainable, community-oriented system.
