Having grown up in a small town in the south of Germany, industrial designer and painter Marco Zebrowski has a long-standing connection to nature, especially the forest, which serves as a constant source of inspiration.

The multidisciplinary artist lives and works in Berlin and mainly uses organic materials such as wood, glass and marble. Due to his interest in their material properties, their potential uses and their limitations, he produces a wide range of design objects. These range from shelves and screens to chairs. Zebrowski’s objects are focussed on sustainability, ergonomics and functionality.

With attention to detail, Zebrowski combines craftsmanship with a creative approach, placing great emphasis on colour and form. His way of working is characterised by traditional craftsmanship from different cultures and eras as well as by his experiences in Japan, Switzerland and France. His works encourage an exploration of simplicity, deceleration and a conscious perception of one’s surroundings. This perspective stands in contrast to the characteristics of today’s consumer-orientated and fast-paced society.

In contrast to his furniture designs, Zebrowski’s paintings, which are also shown in the exhibition, are not subject to any fixed design conventions or rules. These works serve as a means of personal expression and creative exploration. They are created on glass, wood and found materials and show abstract landscapes and depictions of nature.
