Stiftung Neue Kunst Berlin -Brandenburg: Postost Україна / Ukraine | until 18.09.2022

Editors’ Choice

Russia has been waging a war of aggression in Ukraine since February. Millions of people are on the run. There is no end in sight. In order to present the positions of Ukrainian artists and to examine nation-building processes and the legacy of post-Soviet socialisation, the Stiftung Neue Kunst Berlin-Brandenburg (SNKBB) has created the exhibition “POSTOST: Україна / Ukraine”.

All proceeds will be donated directly to the Ukrainian Cultural Community (UCC) in Berlin (less costs incurred). The exhibition primarily brings together positions of Ukrainian artists. The result is a prismatic view of a present at war, everyday life under threat and stories about identification, cohesion and belonging. New works by Volo Bevza and Victoria Pidust in collaboration with 4Spaces |ZigZagZurich will be shown, which were created especially for the exhibition. In addition, Marija Prymatschenko’s paintings reconstructed as woollen blankets will be presented for the first time as part of the exhibition. The original paintings were destroyed during an attack on the museum in Ivankiv – an irretrievable loss in Ukrainian art history. Several works from different creative decades of Boris Mikhailov’s work provide a perspective that is ahead of its time and always contemporary, documenting the explosive nature of the lack of historical reappraisal in their socio-critical momentum.
