With the temporary exhibition “I LOVE NO WAITING”, the “City Bus”, the mobile project space of the Frauenmuseum Berlin, will celebrate its premiere in the outdoor area of the Bode Museum on Sunday May 15th 2022. In the one-day, mobile special presentation, women artists critically examine female role models and representations in art with sculptures, paintings, photography and video installations. The free presentation is part of the integrated exhibition “Der zweite Blick: Women”, which is currently on show at the Bode Museum.

With the mobile project space “Stadtbus”, the artists of the Frauenmuseum Berlin have developed a dynamic exhibition concept to make female artists’ positions visible, independent of mainstream, large budgets and long preparation times. The Frauenmuseum sees itself as a network for women artists living and working in Berlin. The non-profit association was founded in the 1990s and has been active in the field of visual arts since 2007 without a fixed location. The aim of the work is to provide a forum for professional women artists working in Berlin, to promote their networking and to reach an interested public through exhibitions of contemporary positions, as well as to draw the attention of the media and galleries to women artists. Several exhibition series with different focal points ensure intergenerational dialogues and the networking of women artists in all districts of Berlin. In addition, the Frauenmuseum offers its members opportunities for exchange, joint projects, mutual criticism and the chance to participate in thematic exhibitions. Further information on the Frauenmuseum Berlin can be found here.

With the integrated exhibition series “Der zweite Blick” (The Second Look), visitors are invited to engage with current, socially relevant topics in the permanent exhibition of the Bode Museum. Six thematic routes encourage visitors to take a “second look” at 62 objects from the Sculpture Collection and the Museum of Byzantine Art and thus discover them in a new and different way. “Women” currently forms the second part of the exhibition series, which invites visitors to examine the role of women in history, their perception in society and the artistic realisation of pictorial themes relating to women on the basis of selected representations of women. Further information on “Der zweite Blick” can be found here.
