The DESTE Foundation is a non-profit institution dedicated to promoting contemporary art. Its goal is to stimulate dialogue between art and life and to increase the visibility of both emerging and established artists. The Project Space in Athens regularly hosts exhibitions that provide insight into current developments in the international and Greek art scene. The current exhibition, “In a Bright Green Field,” at the Benaki Museum – Pireos 138 focuses on works that explore nature and its relationship to humans.

History:
The DESTE Foundation for Contemporary Art was founded in Geneva in 1983 by collector Dakis Joannou. In 1998, it moved into its first permanent exhibition space in Athens, a former paper factory that was later renovated by Christos Papoulias. Since 2014, it has partnered with the Benaki Museum in Athens to host exhibitions on its premises. Over the years, the foundation has established itself as an important player in the international art world and is known for its groundbreaking exhibitions and support of artists.
