Ice melting at the polar ice caps is increasing rapidly, CO2 emissions cannot be controlled and global warming continues to rise – climate change can no longer be stopped. However, it is thanks to the Corona crisis and now the Ukraine war that climate change has again been largely pushed out of public attention. The current emergency seems more urgent than the supposedly less acute one of climate change. But it is not only the philosopher and cultural critic Slavoj Zizek who has correctly stated that the climate catastrophe will demand far more from us than the Corona pandemic currently does.
The exhibition “2052” tries to bring climate change back into the public eye. In order to address as many people as possible, the exhibits leave the white cube and enter the public space. For “2052”, Raimar Stange asked 22 national and international artists of different generations for artistic contributions, which were conceived in the form of posters to be placed outside and leaflets to be distributed there.
Thematically, the exhibition “2052” follows on from the exhibition “2050”, which was on show at the Kunstverein am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in 2019.
A catalogue is published.
