From May 23rd to April 30th, SomoS presents a fundraising group exhibition of Ukrainian artists. In March 2022, SomoS Arts began offering refuge and support to artists from Ukraine affected by Russia’s invasion of their country. Together they decided to organise a special exhibition to raise awareness of their experiences and to raise funds for the participants as well as for Artists at Risk.

“Holding the Line” shows works by artists and activists in Berlin who are on the run, alongside contributions from their colleagues back home. Their stories of suffering are expressed through video, photography, performance, painting and installation.
Graffiti painter Somari Ptichka will begin her live painting performance on opening day, Saturday, April the 23rd 2022, from 4 pm to 8 pm, which will continue throughout the week.
Admission is on a donation basis. 100% of the proceeds from the works will go directly to the participating artists, many of whom have been displaced and lost their livelihoods. The funds raised will benefit the non-profit organisation Artists at Risk, which works with artists at risk around the world, including those affected by wars and crises such as those in Ukraine and Afghanistan. It focuses on bringing the artists to safety and placing them in welcoming creative communities.
