The art fair paper positions berlin will take place for the first time in the main hall of the former Berlin-Tempelhof airport from May 1 to 4, 2025. Until 2024, the Telekom Capital Representative Office in Französische Straße in Berlin-Mitte was the venue. Now the art fair, which is dedicated exclusively to the medium of paper and takes place annually in spring alongside Gallery Weekend Berlin, is following its “big sister”, the POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair, to Tempelhof.

The relocation of the art fair to the main hall of Tempelhof Airport expands the exhibition space to over 2,500 square meters and should thus enable more international galleries to participate. The location also offers space for new formats and a more generous presentation of the works. The use of Tempelhof Airport also marks another milestone in the history of the fair: both formats, paper positions berlin and POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair, will take place at the same location in future. POSITIONS Berlin Art Fair will also be held in Tempelhof from September 11 to 14, 2025.
paper positions berlin concentrates on contemporary and modern art with a focus on the medium of paper. A characteristic feature of the fair is the renunciation of classic booths in favor of a curated art salon, which enables an open presentation of the works. Applications for participation as a provider are still being accepted (until 02.02.2025).
Three prizes are awarded annually as part of the fair: the Paper Art Award, the Leue & Nill Award for the best gallery presentation and the Paper Positions Award for an outstanding artist. A special exhibition at paper positions berlin 2025 will present works by Afshan Daneshvar, the winner of the Paper Positions Award in 2024.
Winner of the Paper Positions Award 2024: Afshan Daneshvar
A special highlight of paper positions berlin 2025 is the special presentation of the winner of the paper positions award by Kaiserwetter 2024, Afshan Daneshvar. The artist, who is inspired by Persian calligraphy and its repetitive exercises, creates unique works of art on paper that are characterized by calligraphy, folding, collage and interweaving pieces of writing. Her works tell stories and convey calm and aesthetics. Afshan Daneshvar was presented at last year’s edition of the art fair by O Gallery from Tehran.
paper positions berlin is the only art fair in the German-speaking world where galleries offer visitors a concentrated insight into the artistic medium of paper. A broad spectrum of high-quality contemporary, modern and 19th century art will be presented.
The application deadline for galleries is February 2, 2025 and the application form is available on the art fair’s website.
