The Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts (KGM) presents 30 award-winning projects that have been honored with the Federal Ecodesign Award, the highest state award for ecological design in Germany. The exhibition showcases the diversity of sustainable design solutions selected by an interdisciplinary jury of design and environmental experts. The winning entries, awarded in December 2025, impressively demonstrate how design can contribute to resource conservation, the circular economy, digital transformation, and societal innovation.

Design shapes and influences a wide variety of areas of our everyday lives in the long term. The exhibition makes tangible the broad spectrum in which sustainable design is effective today – from car body panels and concrete to over-ear headphones and T-shirts.
For example, the Felt the Future project demonstrates the potential of bio-based materials with a mono-material shoe made from 100% wool, while the SHIFTphone concept ensures the fundamental possibility of repairing a smartphone. Novelis’ fully recycled aluminum car body, in turn, shows that sustainable material cycles are possible even in energy-intensive industries.
From materials and products to digital services and innovative system solutions, the exhibition showcases the immense potential of sustainable design – a central theme to which the KGM (Kunstmuseum Graz) is deeply committed.
