Art Rotterdam | 27.03.-29.03.2026
Art Rotterdam aims to provide a platform for young and contemporary art and to showcase the latest developments in the visual arts. The focus is on promoting new talent and creating a dynamic environment in which galleries from the Netherlands and beyond can present their work to a wide audience. Special attention is paid to the diversity of media, including painting, drawing, graphic art, sculpture, video and installations. From 2026, the Unseen Photo fair will also become an integral part of Art Rotterdam, further diversifying the range on offer.
Special features:
One of Art Rotterdam’s particular strengths is its reputation as a ‘discovery fair’ where emerging talent and new artistic directions can be discovered. The fair offers specially curated sections such as the ‘SOLO/DUO’ section, which showcases solo or duo presentations by artists, and the ‘New Art Section’, which focuses exclusively on works by emerging artists. There is also the ‘Sculpture Park’ for large-format sculptures and installations, and the ‘Projections’ section for film and video art. These sections are often free of charge for galleries and offer special visibility. Art Rotterdam is known for its close ties to Rotterdam’s vibrant art scene, which offers numerous parallel exhibitions and events in the city during the fair week.
Target audience:
Art Rotterdam is aimed at a broad audience, from experienced art collectors and curators to young collectors and art lovers looking for new and affordable works. It attracts both trade visitors and the general public who want the opportunity to purchase art directly from artists and galleries.
History:
Art Rotterdam was founded in 2000 and has since developed into one of the most important art fairs in the Netherlands. Originally housed in the historic Van Nelle Fabriek, it moved to Rotterdam Ahoy in 2025 to offer more space and better transport links. The fair has played a key role in establishing Rotterdam as an important location for contemporary art and increasing the visibility of Dutch and international artists. The merger with Unseen Photo from 2026 marks another important step in its development.
