State Secretary Dr. Wöhlert emphasized in his laudation at the Aufbau Haus am Moritzplatz in Kreuzberg the special merits of Moritz Pankok in the cultural and social field. By founding the first permanent gallery for contemporary art of the Sinti and Roma, “Kai Dikhas”, in the Aufbau-Haus and still running it today, he is making a major contribution to creating public awareness of the life and art of Sinti and Roma. Dr. Wöhlert stressed that Berlin should be proud to host such an institution.
Today Moritz Pankok is also a board member of the Otto Pankok Foundation, which maintains the Otto Pankok Museum in an old baroque country house in Hünxe-Drevenack. He is a member of the collective artistic management of the “tak Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg” and co-founder of the group “Artivists 4 Change” and the association “Die Vielen”.
The state of Berlin is indebted to him.
