From nude model to art dealer: a Berlin gallery owner and her concept in a strongly changing art market.
Nathalie Crivelli (born in Zurich, 1984) is a five-language native, holds a Magna-cum-Laude Bachelor in Corporate Communication and a Summa-cum-Laude Master in Management. After professional experience in the event and financial sector as well as a bourgeois overkill in her Swiss homeland, she entered the art scene in 2014 as a nude model. She has been living in Berlin under the stage name LUCKY since 2016.
Soon Natalie Crivelli had the idea to continue her management and communication skills by marketing artists with whom she worked as a muse. She also studied art history and management in the art market at the Freie Universität Berlin. Since 2018 she has been working as an independent gallery owner. Her strategic focus is on a pop-up gallery model, collaborations, and instagram marketing.
“As a gallery owner, it is no longer enough today to rent premises, hang art on the walls and wait for collectors. You have to be geographically flexible and network with cross-industry partners as part of the event marketing principle. My segment is the millennials, and you have to be able to pick them up online, e.g. on Instagram, with exciting content. The obsolete idea that art is something closed and elitist is completely incomprehensible to me. And why shouldn’t cool, progressive art also be associated with an entertaining experience?”
Natalie Crivelli about her gallery concept
Crivelli realized this concept for the first time in September 2018: under the label LUCKY GALLERY she organized a one-month pop-up exhibition in Berlin-Mitte. The first sale went to a couple of tourists from Beverly Hills, who strolled past when she had her body painted by the bodypaint artist and “Skin City” TV star Robin Slonina from Las Vegas as an Instagram action.
