Gallery Weekend Berlin | 26.04.-28.04.2024

Editors’ Choice

Gallery Weekend Berlin celebrates its 20th edition from 26 to 28 April 2024 under the new direction of Antonia Ruder, who took over this task in November 2023. Every spring, the more than 50 participating galleries showcase the diversity and quality of Berlin’s gallery landscape with high-calibre exhibitions by both young and established artists.

Founded in 2005 by a small group of Berlin galleries, the Gallery Weekend has quickly established itself as a permanent fixture in the international art calendar. Even 20 years after its foundation, it still stands for the vibrancy of the city and offers a comprehensive overview of the many facets of contemporary art.

In addition to established names such as Wolfgang Tillmans (Galerie Buchholz), Hanne Darboven (Crone), Sean Scully (Galerie Max Hetzler) and Cosima von Bonin (Galerie Neu), there will once again be numerous discoveries to mark the anniversary. Guests can also look forward to new artistic positions in the galleries, such as the American Haley Mellin at Dittrich & Schlechtriem or Argentinian artist Santiago de Paoli at Meyer Riegger. At Sprüth Magers, a group exhibition entitled “territory” will feature the five Asian artists Mire Lee, Liu Yujia, Gala Porras-Kim, Tan Jing and Zhang Ruyi. The young Berlin galleries will be showing Constantin Thun (Sweetwater), Angharad Williams (Crooked Teeth), Akeem Smith (Heidi) and Gerrit Frohne-Brinkmann (Noah Klink). The young gallery Molitor will also be taking part in the Gallery Weekend for the first time with the American artist Lisa Jo.
