Another premiere is coming up at the capital city cabaret DISTEL. On 12 October 2024, the new play ‘Die Ampeltherapie. Until someone cries’ premieres. DISTEL sends the traffic lights into therapy. Because it’s not just the external pressure on the traffic light government that’s immense, there’s also constant seething inside. Instead of tough negotiations, free association in a protected space. New approach, new hope.

Insults, defamation, rabble-rousing. The culture of debate in parliament is at an all-time low. It is difficult to distinguish between the opposition and the governing coalition, as they are all equally divided. But how can we find common ground again? Bärbel Bas sentences three MPs to detention. A mediator is needed. What works in strikes will probably also work in the Bundestag. Can it work when backbenchers have to go back to school? A coach is supposed to teach a culture of debate, trust exercises, mindfulness and relaxation exercises.
But the fronts are hardened and things get heated – and not just verbally. What to do when anger management fails and frustration tolerance is close to zero? Not even a family constellation with Strack-Zimmermann helps the FDP. The Chancellor is practising his silence seminar: ‘Governing without words.’ And the Greens want to rediscover their inner balance with hate yoga. Service staff and top politicians get lost in the seminar room and at some point, time even runs backwards.
The MPs look into the abyss, but not even that looks back. Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is just an oncoming tractor.
A crash course in democracy. Until someone cries.
Stage: Samia Dauenhauer
With Samia Dauenhauer we welcome a new face to our stage. After TV and cinema productions, engagements at the Volksbühne, the Neuköllner Oper and the HAU, among others, as well as working with Rosa von Praunheim, for example, we are delighted that she is enriching our ensemble.
Author & Stage: Timo Doleys
Timo Doleys has been a permanent member of the DISTEL ensemble for over 15 years, and it is not only his parodies of Angela Merkel that have achieved cult status with audiences. In addition to his work on stage, he regularly contributes to the texts of current programmes. ‘Die Ampeltherapie’ was written entirely by him – with the exception of individual text contributions by cabaret artists and authors Martin Maier-Bode, Lorenz Meyer, Jens Neutag and Axel Pätz.
Stage: Jens Eulenberger
After film and television roles and engagements at the Deutsches Theater, the Ku’damm Theatre and the Comödie Dresden, among others, Jens Eulenberger can now mainly be seen at the Academixer cabaret in Leipzig. He made his DISTEL debut in 2023 with ‘Im Hinterzimmer der Macht’.
Live music: Falk Breitkreuz & Tilman Ritter
As a well-rehearsed duo, they accompany ‘Die Ampeltherapie’ musically, with Tilman Ritter responsible for the lyrics and the musical arrangement.
Choreography: Marita Erxleben
As the founder of the renowned Marita Erxleben Dance Academy in Potsdam, she choreographs productions all over Germany. ‘Im Hinterzimmer der Macht’ was her first production for DISTEL.
