The performance ‘The Third Prince’ by Choy Ka Fai, which can be seen from 9 April to 10 April 2025, at HAU3, takes players into a future in which an android shaman discovers ancient spiritual wisdom in Taiwan and combines shamanism, East Asian cosmologies and tales of political resistance in a unique computer game.

The year 2096: An android shaman with a noble mission is born on the island of Formosa (Taiwan). In “The Third Prince”, she rediscovers ancient spiritual wisdom and tries to prove the presence of the “third prince”, a synonym for the androgynous Chinese deity Nezha. The computer game combines shamanism, East Asian cosmologies and political stories of resistance. It speculates on a future concept of freedom characterised by technology, geopolitics and an ethics of governance.
