The Stiftung Preußische Seehandlung has announced that a further literary scholarship can be awarded through the newly founded ‘Circle of Friends’. Like the Foundation’s regular scholarships, the annual scholarship is endowed with 18,000 euros. The jury has selected the Berlin-based author Lisa Danulat for this scholarship. This year, there will once again be a final reading with the scholarship holder, to which a separate invitation will be sent out in the summer.

Lisa Danulat studied philosophy, acting and scenic writing in Frankfurt am Main, Freiburg and Graz. From 2021 to 2024, she trained as an operating theatre assistant. In 2005, her first play ‘Die Sieben Stufen der Akzeptanz’ was premiered at the Wallgrabentheater Freiburg. In 2009, her youth play ‘Topinambur’ was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen der Jugend. In addition to numerous awards and scholarships, Lisa Danulat received the Kathrin Türks Prize in 2018. Her play ‘Entschuldigung’ was selected for the Autorentheatertage of the Deutsches Theater Berlin in 2019 and premiered there.

The Stiftung Preußische Seehandlung has been supporting authors with a literature scholarship programme since 1984. The scholarships are aimed at established Berlin writers in the fields of drama, prose and poetry.
Since 2023 and on the occasion of the foundation’s 40th anniversary, a circle of friends has been established to strengthen the foundation’s support for literature. Thanks to the generous support of initially 40 founding friends, this initiative was launched and last year a literary scholarship totalling 18,000 euros was awarded to the Berlin author Lilian Peter.
