The exhibition By the Means of Art – Mit den Mitteln der Kunst, which opens on 10 October 2025 at Camaro Haus in Berlin, shows how the means of art can be used to show children and young people in particular new paths and perspectives. Several initiatives will be presented that use artistic means to help children stabilise and find their identity (in international crisis situations, but also in the Berlin context).
stART international e.V. works in Germany and abroad with interdisciplinary teams of educators, therapists and artists in educational and trauma therapy and with the available artistic means directly in crisis areas, including in refugee camps, kindergartens, schools and orphanages.
stART is also represented in this exhibition with the participatory project SIMPLY BLUE!
Ephra is a non-profit organisation in Berlin. Children from Berlin’s disadvantaged schools are familiarised with artistic techniques and forms of expression through direct contact with artists in their studios or at exhibitions. Access to art and culture should be guaranteed for every child, regardless of their background or financial situation.
The Nu Dagbé project is supported by the Camaro Foundation. Street children receive training in circus skills; learning artistic forms of expression promotes the emancipation of young people.
Statement by the curator Paula Anke
It is becoming increasingly necessary to use the means of art to help with integration, not only to stabilise the children stranded here, but also to draw them into our culture. The means of art are meant to be interdisciplinary and open to all disciplines. These culturally mediating techniques make it possible to create identity-strengthening spaces for oneself wherever in the world.
During the exhibition, appeals and current voluntary initiatives from the Berlin area will be published on a ‘notice board’.
