CHROMA*ambiguità – Neurotitan (Berlin) | 21.02.-07.03.2026

Editors’ Choice

With CHROMA*ambiguità, Neurotitan presents a group exhibition of eight young, internationally active artists whose works aim to create an immediate visual and sensory experience. The exhibition provides insight into a contemporary visual and material culture that is clearly rooted in the present.

The title CHROMA*ambiguità is an artistic concept that combines color (chroma) and blurring or ambiguity. It refers to a curatorial approach that deliberately avoids unambiguous interpretations and instead focuses on the sensory reception of the works. The exhibition understands ambiguity as a productive state:

Meanings remain open, perceptions can be contradictory, and different approaches exist side by side on an equal footing. In this sense, CHROMA*ambiguità calls for a form of tolerance of ambiguity—an endurance and acceptance of multiple perspectives and meanings.

What the participating positions have in common is a strong focus on the respective medium. The works unfold their effect through color, materiality, surface, and form, rather than through explanatory texts or conceptual frameworks. An intensive examination of craft processes and their expansion under contemporary conditions forms a connecting foundation.

A subtle digital influence runs through all the works, but this is rarely explicitly addressed. Instead, a broad spectrum of surfaces, forms, and material combinations is presented, whose juxtaposition creates a dense material-aesthetic structure. The exhibition invites viewers not to reduce this complexity to a single meaning, but to understand it as an open space for experience.

Explanatory wall texts have been deliberately omitted. Visitors are invited to approach the works without any predetermined interpretation and to develop their own associations, thoughts, and perceptions. This open attitude to reception is supported by a site-specific multi-channel sound installation by Pascal Schilling. Its harmonious, restrained structure creates an atmosphere of lingering and opens up an acoustic space in which the visual works can take effect. Through the use of psychoacoustic effects, the spatial conditions of the Neurotitan are taken up and subtly expanded, while CHROMA*ambiguità unfolds between sensual experience, contemporary material research, and open perception.
