The fair focuses on modern and contemporary art as well as design, with particular emphasis on the unrivaled quality and authenticity of the works on display—ensured through a rigorous vetting process. The fair will take place from 15 to 19 May 2026 in New York.
Highlights:
A central hallmark of TEFAF is its comprehensive and rigorous vetting procedure, in which more than 120 international experts examine every object offered for sale to ensure authenticity, quality, and condition. This process builds confidence for both buyers and sellers. The fair is renowned for presenting museum-quality works spanning all periods and genres. In addition, TEFAF New York offers an extensive program of talks, panel discussions, and special exhibitions. The venue itself—the historic Park Avenue Armory—adds to the experience with its striking architecture.
Target Audience:
The fair attracts an international audience of seasoned collectors, curators, museum representatives, art advisors, and art enthusiasts. It appeals both to established buyers looking to expand their collections and to a discerning clientele who value rare and exceptional objects in an exclusive setting.
History:
TEFAF was originally founded in 1988 in Maastricht, the Netherlands, and is widely regarded as the world’s leading organization for fine art, antiques, and design. Its expansion to New York in 2016 was aimed at better serving the American market and creating a bridge between the European and American art worlds. Initially, two editions were held annually in New York (spring and fall), later streamlined into one focused fair dedicated to modern and contemporary art and design.
