A series of fundraising events is organised by Artists Care About Bridges at Acud Macht Neu. All receipts are donated directly to the international movement Seebrücke.
In the current social and political climate, in which foreclosure policies and global nationalism threaten to grow immeasurably, we as artists, curators, activists and people literally need bridges to act together and expand our scope of action. For this reason, the activist collaboration Artists Care About Bridges is hosting a series of fundraising actions at Acud Macht Neu on the third weekend of Advent to metaphorically build a bridge and create a place of encounter. A club night, an art auction, as well as the sale of Christmas trees from controlled organic cultivation serve to support the internationally active movement Seebrücke. Seebrücke is a decentrally organised civil society movement that opposes the European policy of sealing off people and the criminalisation of sea rescue in the Mediterranean. Artists Care About Bridges fully support the demand of the Bridge of Seas to ensure safe escape routes, humane reception of refugees and decriminalisation of sea rescue throughout Europe. Migration is the engine that has always enriched culture and society. Instead of closing borders, we must create bridges and stand up for an open Europe.
