The Berlin gallery Semjon Contemporary is committed to an extraordinary art project by the artist Ursula Sax (*1935) represented by the gallery. A crowdfunding campaign about Kickstarter was initiated and is now underway.

Until January 9, 2019 (23:59 p.m.), anyone can make a donation to the art project, which is intended to purchase copies of the costumes for planned productions in order to protect the valuable originals. Gallery owner Semjon H.N. Semjon, who represents Ursula Sax with his gallery, will address the public and explain the purpose and background of the crowdfunding campaign:
Crowdfunding-Campaigne about Kickstarter to raise funds for the production of copies of Ursula Sax’s dance sculptures for the re-staging of her Geometric Ballet (Hommage à Oskar Schlemmer) has begun!
Tristan Production from Dresden and Semjon Contemporary have developed the crowdfunding campaign and launched it via the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, which has established itself in the cultural field, so that rehearsals can begin on time in spring 2019 for the premiere at the end of August at Radialsystem and thereafter for the performances at Festspielhaus Hellerau and Bauhaus Dessau.
The production of the copies is essential because I don’t want the originals, which were made around 1987-1992, to be damaged.
The entire ensemble of the original dance sculptures (body masks made of felt, air dresses made of fabric and Tyfex as well as the body cardboard) were awarded to the Berlinische Galerie by Ursula Sax in her will after her death.
With your help the dance sculptures can be made as copies. We must have collected 35.000 EUR by 23:59 p.m. on 9 January 2019. If the goal is not reached, the money will not be called up by you via Kickstarter. We are counting on you and we are optimistic that we can reach the goal together.
Please inform your friends and acquaintances so that the ‘community’ grows constantly. Multipliers such as the press, radio, television, social media platforms (fb, instagram, twitter, ….) can also be informed. Of course we are there too! If you have any questions, please send mail to me: office@semjoncontemporary.com
Your commitment will be rewarded! From the signed postcard (20 EUR) to edition works of art, a dinner with the artist, to an individual presentation of excerpts from the new production of Geometric Ballet (8,500 EUR +), much is possible.
