We are pleased to present the renovated and extended house with the opening exhibition of Karin Sander for the first time. The work of the award-winning artist will be received and exhibited worldwide. It is present in numerous international collections and exhibitions. Since 2000 Sander has lived in Berlin and Zurich, where she teaches at the ETH Zurich.

In all phases of her work, the artist demonstrates the consistency with which she pursues her strategy: The example of her utility pictures illustrates how pictures are created and how they depict their surroundings both concretely and in a figurative sense. Thus Sander surprises in a subtle and at the same time humorous way with a site-specific exhibition specially conceived for the Haus am Waldsee.

The artist deals concretely with the spatial conditions. Thus her exhibition at Haus am Waldsee not only documents Karin Sander’s numerous works from the early 1990s to the present day, but also thematizes the house as a house, which, after 73 years of exhibition activity, stands before us for the first time again in its original form of 1922/23.

On the occasion of the exhibition, Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther König will publish an artist’s book in German and English.
