Private collections of contemporary art, in addition to state museums, galleries and project spaces, contribute significantly to the diversity and attractiveness of Berlin’s art landscape. In order to give this significance visibility, 15 private collections will host the Collection Night on August 23rd : Between 5 pm and midnight, the participating collections will create individual formats and open their programs and venues to art lovers.
Participating artists: Sammlung Bergmeier, Boros Collection, me Collectors Room, The Feuerle Collection, Sammlung Haubrok, Kienzle Art Foundation, Rocca Stiftung, Sammlung Ulrich Seibert, Julia Stoschek Collection, Sammlung Wemhöner, Sammlung Ivo Wessel, Wurlitzer Berlin – Pied-à-terre Collection.
Each collection creates its own programme, including exhibitions, screenings, talks or performances. Various aspects of art collecting and the diversity of the collection fields are to become visible. The entire programme will be communicated on the website www.berlincollectors.com.
Some collections are made accessible to the public for the first time. The Wemhöner Collection temporarily opens its new premises in Berlin Kreuzberg as part of the Collection Night. After a renovation phase, these will house a regular public exhibition from the beginning of 2021.
The Collection Night is organized by the directors of the Boros Collection, The Feuerle Collection and the me Collectors Room.
