radio kal is an ephemeral space for artistic experimentation and for communities to come together across space and time. With radio kal we hope to build bridges that vibrate across multiple languages so that we can listen to each other and share our worlds in stories and songs. It provides a space to talk about experiences and engagements that connect art, activism, diaspora, migration, ecology, collectivity, family, love and sexuality. The resulting episodes, which will be produced at intervals over the coming year, will be created collectively and will enable forms of shared learning.

radio kal is DIY. Parallel to the radio contributions, we organise a series of radio workshops and online tutorials to learn experimental and critical radio making together. The tooling workshops with sound & radio artist Shanti Suki Osman, video artist, researcher and educator Dafne Narvaez Berlfein, academic, activist and curator Promona Sengupta and artist, sound researcher, DJ and OOR Records co-owner A Frei will share feminist methodologies, open source tools and examples from the wealth of knowledge about online radio formats that has become available and developed with the pandemic.
Exhibition dates: Thursday, 10 December 2020 – Saturday 31 December
