Editors’ Choice

Following its completed renovation, the Neue Nationalgalerie will be open to the public from Saturday, 5 to Monday, 7 June 2021. During these three open days, visitors will be able to view the still empty, unused museum building. Admission is free of charge.

On the open days, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s architectural icon can be experienced in its pure state, i.e. without any art on display. The focus is on the building itself, which was opened in 1968 and has been renovated since 2015. The tour available on the open days offers visitors detailed insights into the renovation measures implemented by David Chipperfield Architects. From the glass hall, the path leads to the spacious basement, where visitors can see the cloakroom, museum shop and café as well as the collection rooms. The garden, which was already closed off for many years before the renovation, can now be experienced again as an extension of the museum space.
