The founders of Wilhelm Hallen announce the opening of the new Berlin creative complex Wilhelm Hallen with the exhibition HALLEN #2 – an art exhibition that will also be presented during Berlin Art Week. With a series of events, installations and talks in collaboration with Berlin galleries and international artists and curators, the initiators want to fill the Wilhelm Hallen with new life.

The Wilhelm Hallen will transform a listed industrial site in Pankow/Reinickendorf into a centre for the creative industry. In particular, a place is to be created here that promotes networking between creative disciplines and exchange with the public.

The former Winkelhof iron foundry comprises a listed ensemble of halls, loft spaces and offices in clinker brick architecture. The total floor space is more than 20,000 square metres. Designed between 1898 and 1918 by the Pankow master bricklayer Christian Friedrich Malingriaux and built from 1902 by the architect Hermann Streubel, the factory halls have undergone only a few changes over the decades. In the 1950s, a few additions were made and a gatehouse was added to the complex. Since its closure in 2014, the building has remained untouched. The aim of the renovation of the now WILHEM HALLEN is uncompromising conservation.

The exhibition programme of “HALLEN #2 – Yes to all!” is the first step towards promoting exchange between Berlin’s vibrant creative scene and the public. In partnership with Berlin galleries and with the participation of international artists and other protagonists of the art scene, a programme of exhibitions, performances and discussions has been created that offers a kaleidoscopic view of art-making in Berlin.
