A Concert for Peace with the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Staatsopernchor under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim will take place next Sunday, 6 March 2022, at 11 am at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Tickets at the standard price of 25 EUR (reduced 15 EUR) are on sale now. The proceeds of the concert will be donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund (UHF) of the United Nations, which supports Ukrainians with humanitarian aid.

Thanks to the support of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb), the Concert for Peace will also be broadcast live on rbbKultur on Sunday.
The programme of the concert includes the Ukrainian national anthem “Shche ne wmerla Ukrajina” (Ще не вмерла Україна), composed in 1863 by Mikhailo Werbitsky on the poem “Ukraine is not yet dead” by Pavlo Chubinsky. Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 in B minor D759 (“Unfinished”) and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major op. 55 (“Eroica”) will also be performed.
The management of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and all its staff are appalled, shocked and deeply concerned by the war that the Russian government has launched against Ukraine. This attack is not only directed against one country, but against the entire culture of peaceful coexistence worldwide. ECB President Lagarde and Bundesbank President Nagel share the dismay about Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
As an opera house, we strive with all our strength to let something come into being instead of destroying it, to connect people in the experience of music, not to set them against each other. At this time, our solidarity and sympathy go unreservedly to all those suffering from this catastrophe.
