The oeuvre of Lotte Laserstein (1898- 1993) is one of the great rediscoveries of recent years. The painter made a name for herself in the vibrant art scene of the Weimar Republic and is best known for her sensitive and realistic portraits of women in urban settings. Her works will be shown by Dr. Nöth Galerie.
For paper positions berlin, artist Isabelle Borges will present her three-dimensional “Boxes” in a site-specific wall installation at FeldbuschWiesnerRudolph. The “Boxes” are objects constructed from different coloured passe-partout cardboard, consisting of multiple layers. The outer edges of the individual cubes are completely filled with luminous colours or mirror surfaces. In this way, a luminous poetry is created; a complex play between line, colour, surface and space.
Malwine Stauss represents the voice of a young generation of artists who critically question social norms through their work and explore the themes of female empowerment and community. Her expressive watercolours will be on show at Jarmuschek + Partner.
The unusual, fine ink drawings on paper by Felix Baxmann are presented by Galerie Martin Mertens. Baxmann’s works are made up of countless tiny weaving patterns and are sometimes applied in several layers so densely that almost textile structures emerge. His working process is almost meditative and requires extreme discipline and perseverance.
