For almost two years now, a new centre has been emerging in Monheim’s city centre. After the opening of the new Heinestraße, the Rathauscenter, the Boulevard and the renovated Eierplatz, three new works of art will also be inaugurated in quick succession.
Along with Tony Cragg and Jeppe Hein, Mischa Kuball is one of three artists to create a work for Monheim am Rhein. His monheim_cube will be the first light artwork in the city and will illuminate the boulevard between the bus station and Eierplatz from November, visible from afar.
Even before the inauguration, the Düsseldorf artist will be a guest at the Kunstwerkstatt Turmstraße on Thursday, 1 September from 7 pm.
What interests him about art in public urban space? What fascinates him about working with light and sound? And what can the citizens actually expect in the future culturally in Monheim Mitte?
In a dialogue with cultural scientist Julia Höner, director of the “KAI10 | Arthena Foundation”, those interested will have the chance to get to know the artist and his work in advance in the large hall on the ground floor in the art workshop. Admission is free. Please register in advance by e-mail to kunstvermittlung@monheim.de.
