Exactly 100 years after its premiere on 30 September 1922, Oskar Schlemmer’s Triadic Ballet will once again come to life in Stuttgart. Under the title “Körper der Gegenwart” (Bodies of the Present), the Staatsgalerie in cooperation with the Produktionszentrum Tanz + Performance e.V. is organising a festival with six productions inspired by Schlemmer from 30 September to 9 October 2022. Venues are in the Staatsgalerie as well as in Stuttgart’s city centre.
The festival starts with a warm-up on 29 September at 6.30 pm in the Königsbaupassagen and the production “THE EXPLORER:S”. In the so-called Public Space Walk by choreographer Pascal Sangl, three astronauts land in Stuttgart and counteract the hectic pace of earthly life by dancing through the hustle and bustle of the city. Free admission.
The productions of the festival take a look at contemporary questions: How does one perceive the relationship between dependence and freedom in the digital age, which is shown in the “Triadic Ballet”, for example, in the relationship between movement and restriction of movement, or in the fusion of body and costume? And how visionary must art be in times of social upheaval?
