Concerts, table football tournaments, open-air cinema, food trucks, drinks and an enthusiastic audience: in July and August, the Schlüterhof once again became the largest open-air stage in the historic center of Berlin.

This year’s open-air season ended on August 31, 2024 with the highly successful Box Office Around the World cinema festival at the Humboldt Forum. Since June 29, 2024, 68,000 Berliners and international guests have visited the numerous events in the Schlüterhof: from the Kicken und Kieken weekend on the occasion of the European Football Championship to international blockbuster films and the Durchlüften music festival to the Long Night of Museums.

Hartmut Dorgerloh, General Director of the Humboldt Forum: “As a special open-air stage, the Schlüterhof attracts a diverse urban community that celebrates together, enjoys music and films from all over the world or plays table soccer – with admission largely free of charge. Formats such as Durchlüften and Box Office Around the World, curated together with Berlin and international communities, have quickly become highlights of our program. We are very pleased about the increase of 21,000 visitors compared to the previous year. This popularity shows that the Humboldt Forum has become an integral part of Berlin’s summer cultural program.”

At the Kicken und Kieken weekend at the end of June, everything revolved around the ball. Around 7,600 people played table football, visited the picture book cinema or watched the European Football Championship at the public viewing in the Schlüterhof.

The now well-known free Durchlüften festival, at which Ustad Noor Baksh, BIXIGA70 and Dominique Fils-Aimé, among others, performed this year, set a new audience record in its fourth year with 50,856 visitors.

The open-air cinema Box Office Around the World with six current productions from Thailand, Argentina, Nigeria, Vietnam, Brazil and India was seen by 3,475 film enthusiasts. During the Long Night of Museums with 5,930 visitors in the Humboldt Forum, many experienced the summer evening in the atmospheric Schlüterhof with a special short film program.

The diversity of voices that makes up the Humboldt Forum’s program is also reflected in the interaction between the various players: The Humboldt Forum is a collaboration between the Humboldt Forum Foundation in the Berlin Palace, the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation with the collections of the Ethnological Museum and the Museum of Asian Art of the National Museums in Berlin, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin with the Humboldt Laboratory and the Stadtmuseum Berlin with the Berlin Exhibition.
