Ball der Künstlerinnen – Alexander and Renata Camaro Stiftung | 13.05.2023

Editors’ Choice

The “Ball der Künstlerinnen” (> Ball of Women Artists) will take place on 13 May 2023 in Berlin. For the second time, the Camaro Foundation and the Association of Berlin Women Artists 1867 e.V. are hosting the association’s traditional ball. As early as 1900, the women artists celebrated opulent costume parties in the current rooms of the Camaro Foundation. The house was built in 1893 for the Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen 1867 e. V. as a painting and drawing school, and the bright, high rooms were once, as they are today, a splendid setting for exuberant parties.

The motto of the second ball is MASK – this mysterious accessory will be put into a lustful context. Fantastic masks have already been created with make-up artist Aydé Rouvière in a workshop at the Camaro House – the foundation and the association are looking forward to the creations of the visitors. Everyone is cordially invited to the Artists’ Ball at Camaro House: whether in ball gown, dressed as a work of art, masked… or as “yourself”.

PROGRAM

19:00 Admission
20:00 The ball begins with waltzes by the Hangarmusik chamber orchestra, in which children and young people with refugee experience and Berlin musicians make music together. On 6 July 2023, Hangarmusik will be awarded the German National Foundation’s sponsorship prize together with the orchestral programme Démos of the Paris Philharmonic. The Toolbox Orchestra will play hits of the 20’s and 30’s with instruments and a singing saw, Señor Depressivo will sing about all facets of heartbreak and lead through the evening, the PerformanceChoir for experimental singing will intervene and the dancer Alice Chauchat has developed a dance concept for the ball.

The highlight is the CATWALK OF COSTUMES, where the artists of the association and guests show off their wearable artworks and special costumes.

Finger food and a welcome drink are included in the admission price of 30 euros.
