From 31 August 2023, the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Dresden State Art Collections) will open various houses in changing exhibitions every Thursday from 6 to 9 pm. The event is entitled “Feier den Abend!” (> Celebrate the evening1). Extended opening hours and a special price will then apply. Free admission for children and young people under 17.

The Dresden State Art Collections (SKD) are expanding their offer and in future will invite visitors to the evening opening of changing exhibitions every Thursday. The show “Rosalba Carriera – Perfection in Pastel” will kick off on 31 August 2023. The Alte Meister Picture Gallery will welcome its public from 6 to 9 p.m. and will also offer evening openings and guided tours of the special exhibitions on the following four Thursdays (7, 14 and 21 September).
In the coming months, further special exhibitions will be open additionally in the evening hours, on Thursdays, including the presentations “Ferne, so nah. Artists, Artists and Their Travels” in the Kupferstich-Kabinett (28 September, 5 October), “Orhan Pamuk. The Consolation of Things” in the Old Masters Picture Gallery (12, 19, 26 Oct, 2 Nov), “Revolutionary Romances” in the Albertinum (9, 16, 23, 30 Nov) and “Timeless Beauty. A History of Still Life” in the Old Masters Picture Gallery (7, 14, 21, 28 December).
Tickets cost a standard €8 (reduced €6, children and young people under 17 free) and are available both in advance and in the webshop at www.shop.skd.museum and available at the museum box office.
In this way, the museum association would like to create an additional offer, especially for the Dresden public, and enable working people to enjoy art regularly after work. The evening opening in the Green Vault on Fridays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. has already been established for several years. The additional offer “Free from Three”, where every Sunday from 3 p.m. a museum invites visitors with free admission, is also very popular, especially with a local audience.
The evening openings are accompanied by a special guided tour programme or live speakers.
