From 24 September 2023, every Sunday will be Family Sunday at Hamburger Bahnhof: open studios, tours, workshops, art labs and much more; Volkswagen Grou Art4All Family Sunday continues the initiative developed with Volkswagen since April 2018, now extended until the end of 2025.

In September 2023, the new Volkswagen Group Art4All Family Sunday programme will be launched at Hamburger Bahnhof: the weekly family Sunday will offer open studios, tours, workshops, art labs and much more from Sunday, 24 September 2023. Hamburger Bahnhof invites all visitors to discover the museum and art together with their family, whether related, living together or as a family of choice, to ask critical questions and experiment with artistic techniques. Families make the museum their temporary home: Sunday walks lead in and around the building, in the Rieckhallen they chill, dance and dress up and build a collective spatial installation. The free programme is accessible without registration and with a museum ticket at a reduced family price on Sundays from 12 to 5 pm.
Since April 2018, Volkswagen Group Art4All has been inviting visitors to Hamburger Bahnhof to discover new approaches to the works in the collection and the current exhibitions. This is encouraged by educational offers and an artistic supporting programme aimed at a broad public. Most recently, Volkswagen Group Art4All offered visitors an extensive programme of events and education at Hamburger Bahnhof with the Open House Days on the Open House weekend in June 2023. From September 2023, the initiative will continue with Family Sundays at Hamburger Bahnhof until December 2025.
Till Fellrath, Director Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart: “With the new Family Sunday offer, Hamburger Bahnhof is anchoring the museum as an open and inclusive educational institution in the heart of the city of Berlin. Whether old or young, whether you live together under one roof or not, whether you are related or have found each other as a family, everyone is welcome. We invite you to experience Hamburger Bahnhof together, perhaps for the first time ever, as a place where everyone can get actively involved. We would like to thank Volkswagen, the National Gallery’s long-standing partner, for supporting this new family programme.”
Benita von Maltzahn, Head of Cultural Engagement at Volkswagen: “Together we have developed the ‘Volkswagen Group Art4All’ format at Hamburger Bahnhof and are now taking it into a new phase together: families are at the heart of our upcoming programmes at this museum, which are designed to be experienced by several generations together. This is another innovative step in our journey to make ‘culture for all’ possible.”
