Cheerful or serious, monochrome or colorful, imaginative or realistic: How do you portray yourselves? We invite children, especially those of kindergarten age, and their adult companions to an activity day on Museum Island and in Haus Bastian. You can get creative in workshops on the subject of “portraits”. Short tours of the museums and a shadow play make for an exciting program. The Family Action Day is part of the “4 plus – Children in the Museum” project with FRÖBEL e.V.

The “4 plus – Children in the Museum” project
Children between the ages of 4 and 6 are the focus of the educational project “4plus – Children in the Museum”, which the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is realizing together with FRÖBEL e.V. from 2022 to 2024. The focus of the cooperation is on stimulating creative thinking and artistic expression in children, as well as developing important emotional and social skills. In addition, the focus is on the participation of children and their families in Berlin’s cultural life. “4plus – Children in the Museum” includes specially developed workshops for daycare groups, an accompanying training program for educators and action days for families in Haus Bastian.

Haus Bastian – Center for Cultural Education
Haus Bastian is the center for cultural education of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. In the immediate vicinity of the World Heritage Site Museum Island, the building designed by David Chipperfield offers a wide range of opportunities for pioneering educational and outreach work. Haus Bastian is a place for a wide audience: schoolchildren and students, children and families, young people and adults will not only find an ideal starting point in a central location to explore all 15 collections of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, they will also have the opportunity here to follow up, expand and discuss their observations, experiences and questions in a creative way. In addition to major regional and national educational projects, Haus Bastian offers a forum for discussing current and forward-looking issues in educational work such as social participation, inclusion and political education.
