The project space Culterim Gallery presents the artist Tom Meier from October 3, 2024 as part of the series: Culterim | Backshop. The principle is: another first Thursday of the month, another Culterim | Backshop. One work of one artistic position is shown each time. Guests are invited to drop by, have a drink and chat with the makers and artists.

As a sculptor, Tom Meier works with physical forces to evoke psychological forces. He tries to overcome material and create mere bodies of force: sculptures that manage entirely without matter. Forces are his medium. For him, sculpture is defined as force in space that is made visible through bodies. For him, matter is merely the packaging of force, or its indicator. This is due to a systemic understanding of the psyche that deals with vectors, charges and social mapping and considers the figures to be relatively interchangeable.
Since 2022, he has mainly worked with the medium of light, which he sends through the space in ever-changing movements, usually with the help of specially designed machines. In this way, he creates manuscripts of light that are reminiscent of human gestures. Tom Meier completed his studies in fine arts in 2023 as a master student at the KHB Weissensee.
