These are the highlights of the Talks programme at ART COLOGNE 2024

ART COLOGNE will soon be opening its doors for the 57th time. From Friday, 8 to Sunday, 10 November, a total of 15 different talks with renowned experts will take place in the ART COLOGNE TALKS LOUNGE (Hall 11. 1, D 011) for inspiring discussions and encounters, including guests such as Maria Alekhina from Pussy Riot, Karen and Christian Boros, Hans-Georg Esch, Tobias Rehberger, Reinhard Ernst, Andra Lauffs-Wegner, Arno Morenz, Diedrich Diederichsen, Meron Mendel and Forensic Architecture in dialogue about collector culture, art and social issues.

Selected Highlights on Friday, 8. November 2024 
At 12:00, presenter Kathrin Luz welcomes, among others, Maria Alekhina from Pussy Riot, currently highly praised for the ‘Velvet Revolution’ exhibition she co-curated at Munich’s Haus der Kunst. Maria Alekhina is coming on behalf ofArtists at Risk, a global organisation founded in 2013 to support persecuted artists, whose mission is to guarantee artistic freedom as well as human rights, and will talk about her experiences.

In the afternoon at 16:00, this year’s ART COLOGNE prizewinners Karen and Christian Boros will take part in a discussion entitled ‘Collecting as uncompromising contemporaneity’.

Afterwards, at 5.00 pm, artist Hans-Georg Esch (HGEsch) will talk to presenter Ranga Yogeshwar, art historian Raimund Stecker and Alfred Schäfer from the Roman-Germanic Museum Cologne about his current photo documentation project ‘Pompeii’, which can be seen in the South Entrance Hall during the fair.

Selected Highlights on Saturday, 9. November 2024
Saturday starts with an artist talk. At 12.00 noon, presenter Silke Hohmann from monopol will meet Tobias Rehberger to talk to him about his works in the LBBW’s ‘Transitions’ exhibition.

Shortly afterwards, at 14:00, the exciting auction of special cultural experiences in aid of ZADIK e. V. will continue. Prof. Dr Nadine Oberste-Hetbleck, Director of the Central Archive for German and International Art Market Research (ZADIK), will moderate the event.

Selected Highlights on Sunday, 10 November 2024
On the last day of ART COLOGNE, presenter Kathrin Luz welcomes her guests Reinhard Ernst (Reinhard Ernst Collection, Wiesbaden), Andra Lauffs-Wegner (KAT_A Collection, Bad Honnef) and Arno Morenz (EAM Collection, Berlin) to the discussion ‘The collector as patron. What does sustainable, future-oriented art buying look like today?’

In just a few days, ART COLOGNE will be presenting a wide range of international art for the 57th time. From 7 to 10 November, the fair will be showing art from around 170 selected galleries and dealers.
