Cellist Anastasia Kobekina and choreographer and dancer Sasha Waltz will meet live at Funkhaus Berlin on 20 December 2025. Waltz will be performing on stage as a dancer for the first time in many years.

On 20 December 2025, two outstanding artists will meet at Funkhaus Berlin in a special exchange between music and dance: the multi-award-winning cellist Anastasia Kobekina will meet the internationally renowned choreographer Sasha Waltz, who is returning to the stage as a dancer for the first time after a long break.

The cello suites of Johann Sebastian Bach are at the heart of this encounter, which draws on Sasha Waltz’s well-known dialogue formats. Kobekina recently re-recorded the six suites, and together with Waltz she explores their expressive possibilities. With cello and body, the two artists embark on an experimental search for clues in Bach’s music.
This interplay, which combines sensitivity with openness, creates an intimate dance dialogue that will be performed live at Funkhaus Berlin on the fourth weekend of Advent, allowing audiences to experience the emotional depth of Bach’s works in a new way.
