Editors’ Choice

In collaboration with Hairspray Magazine / Fanatic Female Frustration, Neurotitan presents a group exhibition on FLINTA* underground comics – aiming to raise the profile of international FLINTA* artists within the alternative comics scene and explore the subversive narrative styles of a queer-feminist subculture. The exhibition opening will take place on 11 April 2026 from 4 pm and will feature a panel discussion, comic readings, a concert and live drawing sessions; the exhibition runs from 11 April to 2 May 2026.

Hairspray Magazine and Fanatic Female Frustration are two self-published comic anthologies focusing on the work of FLINTA* comic artists. Both were jointly awarded the Alternative Comics Prize in Angoulême last year. Hairspray is published by Karla Paloma (Berlin) and aims to connect international FLINTA* artists and alternative comics scenes, helping to raise their profile. Fanatic Female Frustration is a project by Elsa Klee and Lucille Ourvouai (Marseille), dedicated to Aline Kominsky Crumb, the pioneer of feminist autobiographical comics. The anthology celebrates comic zines and the analogue and subversive working methods and narrative styles that have shaped this queer-feminist subculture.

The foundations for this collaboration were laid through a joint exhibition in Bologna and joint appearances at international comic festivals.

The joint group exhibition at Neurotitan presents the work of artists from the first and second issues of Hairspray Magazine and Fanatic Female Frustration; a diverse group of around 30 artists from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Denmark, the UK, Canada, England, Poland, Cameroon, Brazil, the USA, Chile and Switzerland.
