To mark its 30th anniversary, the Hamburger Bahnhof is expanding its range of options for group visits to the museum. Family Sundays have been running since autumn 2023, offering a reduced-price family ticket for all workshops and a free programme: from April to June, jointly created photo collages will become time capsules of the museum visit, homemade costumes will tell new stories, and homemade posters will bring the museum home. As a new anniversary promotion, annual pass holders can now bring one person into the museum free of charge.

Family Sundays programme: April to June
Participation, including admission to all exhibitions: 10 EUR per family (2 people, including 1 person under 18), 15 EUR per family (3 or more people, including 1 person under 18); opening hours 11am to 6pm; programme 12pm to 5pm.

Have you ever had a rummage through old photos? Inspired by the artist Giulia Andreani, you’ll explore the stories they tell. Who’s in them, and who’s missing? Old photos are like time capsules – they capture moments, but they also show what was important back then and what wasn’t. Choose photos that speak to you, design your own elements, and work together to create a huge collage about the world today. Would you like to be part of it too? Then take your own photo and pin it on! After seeing so much in the museum, make the most of the opportunity in the studio and design your own Family Sunday poster featuring your impressions. What can be seen here and what do you like?

In “The Wild Museum”, you’ll be working in the Rieckhallen, where the artist Petrit Halilaj has created an operatic landscape. What stories are told here, and does your story fit in too? Create “ObjektDings” costumes and explore during the try-outs how you yourselves can become part of the exhibition! After you’ve seen plenty in the museum, make the most of the opportunity in the studio to design your own Family Sunday poster featuring your impressions. What’s on display here, and what do you like?

What if your school were right next to your favourite playground? Or if you lived right next to the Hamburger Bahnhof Museum?! Inspired by the work of artist Shilpa Gupta, you’ll create a personalised map featuring your favourite places. Use your imagination and discuss how your paths might take different shapes. What texts have you discovered in the museum? What stories do they tell? And do you actually feel like reading them? In the Assosisatz writing workshop, you’ll rethink the texts. What would you write in them? Perhaps what the artwork smells like? Think about what you’d be interested in reading, create your own texts and hang them right next to the artworks!
