At a festive award ceremony on November 28, 2024, seven graduates of the weißensee school of art and design berlin were awarded the Mart Stam Prize for their outstanding final theses in the fields of art and design.

Neda Aydin, Sculpture – “Perseverance”
Neda Aydin’s steel and bronze sculpture impressed the jury with its sensitive treatment of materials and precise formal placement, which thematize sensitivity to light and space in a special way.
Mareen Baumeister, product design – “Flock”
Mareen Baumeister developed a robotic process to turn coarse wool into a sustainable, three-dimensional felt – an innovative approach to using resources and creating new materials.
Helen Eisen, fashion design – “Perfect World”
In her collection, Helen Eisen challenges gender-specific stereotypes and combines traditional craftsmanship with unconventional cuts to create extravagant silhouettes that emphasize diversity.
Stavros Gialamidis, Visual Communication – “Ciceklik – Peeling through a wall of time”
Stavros Gialamidis convinced the jury with his book, which sheds light on the history of Xanthi from different perspectives by combining fact and fiction as well as an exceptionally differentiated typographic design. Perspektiven beleuchtet.
Fruzsina Kiss, Painting – “Total Communication Overload”
Fruzsina Kiss reflects the visual culture of urban spaces with large-format, silkscreen-based paintings and creates imaginary depth spaces through painterly transformations.
Marina Resende Santos, spatial strategies – “628 Years of Potatoes”
Inspired by the Brazilian principle of usucapião, Marina Resende Santos humorously addresses the issue of land ownership and challenges capitalist structures by growing potatoes on a derelict plot of land in Berlin.
Vivian Tamm, Product Design – “90° Realigning Urban Energy Dynamics”
Vivian Tamm developed an innovative solar façade that uses intelligent movement mechanics to align itself optimally with the sun and combines sustainable energy efficiency with aesthetic design.
The Mart Stam Prize, named after the Dutch architect, designer and former rector of weißensee kunsthochschule berlin, honors the winners with a catalog and a joint exhibition at Galerie Pankow in June 2025. 33 art and design graduates applied for the prize this year. They presented their final projects to the jury in person on the day before the award ceremony.
