On the evening of 18 June, the Berlin 2022 Cultural Summer Festival opened with an open-air in front of the backdrop of the historic Tempelhof Airport. With music from DJs and bands, 10,000 people celebrated and danced into the sunset. The highlight of the evening: the light and music performance by Compagnie Off, whose show Color Wheels celebrated its German premiere yesterday.

Starting this Sunday, special cultural events can be seen and experienced in the city almost every day. Throughout the summer, Berlin will be a stage, a screen or a dance floor. All events are open-air and free of charge. Kulturprojekte Berlin is responsible for the entire programme, which will gradually be published on kultursommerfestial.berlin.
Today it continues at 1.00pm with the Staatsoper für alle on Bebelplatz – an annual highlight of the Berlin Summer of Culture. One day later, LIFE WILL WIN, a benefit concert in support of Ukraine, will be held at the same venue, hosted by the Ukrainian Embassy. Numerous internationally renowned Ukrainian artists and musicians will be taking part. On Monday, the eve of the summer solstice and the beginning of summer, the Fête de la Musique invites you to a special kick-off evening in Gropiusstadt with selected bands and performers, before the whole city is played on Tuesday, 21 June. On Wednesday, things get literary: the Literary Terzett celebrates a special anniversary with Elke Schmitter, Jörg Baberowski, Norbert Bisky and a surprise at the Literaturhaus in Fasanenstraße. The 48 Stunden Neukölln festival has also come up with a special event: in cooperation with the İç İçe – Festival for New Anatolian Music, visitors can expect a colourful programme of live music, panel talks, performances and art on 23 June – in the open air on the drained ice rink at the Eisstadion Neukölln. The Kolonnaden Bar on Museum Island will also open on the same evening. And on Friday there is another highlight: the Quatsch Comedy Club presents a hand-picked selection of six comedians, hosted by Ingo Appelt at the Orankesee lido.
