This year, the Fellowship again supports a broad spectrum of cooperation formats: the fellowships can be implemented on site with the cooperation partners, but can also take place virtually or hybrid. Through the different possibilities, the Fellowship adapts to the individual situation of the artists and offers them the freedom to further develop their unique artistic signature through mentoring, exchange and new experiences.
The international jury consists of Keng Sen Ong (Singapore), Lia Rodrigues (Brazil) and Marc Brew (UK). They look at the international dance scene from different perspectives and take a differentiated look at the artistic projects.
The Pina Bausch Fellowship for Dance and Choreography is characterised by openness and flexibility. Dancers and choreographers are to be supported in the development of their own artistic expression by being given the opportunity to work with an international cooperation partner of their choice. The scholarship is not a project funding, does not aim at developing a piece and has no age limit.
Artists:in 2023 can apply for a full-time bursary (21 hrs or more per week) or a part-time format (20 hrs or less per week). The monthly funding amount is 2,500 euros for a full-time scholarship or 1,000 euros for part-time scholarships. Each scholarship format is designed independently by the applicants and their cooperation partners. The duration depends on the individually designed format, but should not be less than three months. The realisation must take place between 1 September 2023 and 31 August 2024.
The Pina Bausch Fellowship for Dance and Choreography is a joint programme of the Kunststiftung NRW and the Pina Bausch Foundation and has been awarded annually since 2016.
