From 25 to 28 April 2024, 60 galleries from 11 countries will present works of art at the art fair for paper art paper positions Berlin. The eighth edition of the art fair, which is dedicated exclusively to the diverse medium of paper, will once again take place in the Deutsche Telekom Hauptstadtrepräsentanz.

Winner of the paper positions award from Kaiserwetter: Katharina Hinsberg
Katharina Hinsberg’s works, brought to the exhibition by Galerie Werner Klein (Cologne), are characterised by their lightness and delicacy. Hinsberg hatches the paper with a red coloured pencil and cuts out the lines with a scalpel. Her wafer-thin paper frameworks hang fragilely on delicate needles. In their playful and modest manner, Hinsberg’s works colour their viewers. They motivate not only in the handling of the works, but also beyond that to more sensitivity. Look forward to it!

Paper as a material
Works on paper are often particularly accessible and attractive in terms of their size and price, making paper positions a particularly low-threshold way of acquiring art for a wide audience. Young art enthusiasts can make their first art purchases, just as experienced collectors can expand their collection. Paper can be such a smooth surface for delicate pencil lines, absorb flowing ink or be a light background for dark charcoal. It can be cut, assembled into collages and become a new image, it can be fragile but also incredibly stable, making it an exciting material for sculptures. Paper allows artists a special spontaneity, it allows them to try things out, so that in the end it often captures their most artistically free moments. In their delicacy, vulnerability and immediacy, the works on paper benefit from the exclusive attention they receive at this specialised art fair.
