The first Berlin Beats DJ set of the season in the museum garden with Oda Haliti and the opening of the Preis der Nationalgalerie 2024 on Fri, 7 June from 7 pm will kick things off. Claudia Wieser’s new site-specific installation in the museum’s restaurant will also be on display for the first time as part of the Infinite Exhibition. On Saturday, 8 June and Sunday, 9 June, there will be artist talks and tours behind the scenes of the museum and through all the exhibitions. The ‘Open House’ transforms the Riechhallen into a large studio with art cushions to-go and Boom Boom Klub, offers tango in the museum garden and open-air concerts by the BVG Orchestra. Visitors can explore the museum grounds on a sporty museum parcour or play football in the Rieckhallen.

Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, Directors Hamburger Bahnhof: ‘After the overwhelming response to the Open House with 32,000 and Berlin Beats with over 50,000 guests in 2023, we and the Hamburger Bahnhof team are delighted to offer these successful formats again. The Hamburger Bahnhof in the centre of Berlin is available as an open meeting place and we are delighted to invite Berliners to celebrate summer and art with us.’

From Fri 7 June, the Hamburger Bahnhof will be presenting four prizewinners of the Preis der Nationalgalerie for the first time in a joint group exhibition: Pan Daijing, Dan Lie, Hanne Lippard and James Richards. The new format takes up the idea of the exhibition as a collective exchange. The four new productions on show will remain permanently in the Nationalgalerie’s collection. At the same time, the annual expansion of the collection for the ‘Infinite Exhibition’ by artist Claudia Wieser will open on Fri 7 June. Visitors can also enjoy the special exhibitions by Naama Tsabar (until 22 September 2024), Alexandra Pirici (until 6 October 2024), Marianna Simnett (until 3 November 2024) and the collection exhibitions ‘Nationalgalerie. A Collection for the 21st Century“, the “Forum Hamburger Bahnhof” and ’Joseph Beuys. Works from the Nationalgalerie’ free of charge.

On Saturday, 8 June and Sunday, 9 June, an extensive programme complements the admission-free exhibition visit: every full and half hour there are overview tours, family tours and museum parkour in German or English; ‘Open House’ tours offer a look behind the scenes: Backstage tours show the management offices and the depot; the restoration studio opens its doors. Art educators invite visitors to spontaneous dialogues and short guided tours in various languages. There will also be a large book sale organised by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin and the Walther König bookshop. The Restaurant Konstantin at Hamburger Bahnhof offers a special selection of savoury and sweet food and drinks both inside and outside the museum.

Programme partner of the Open House is Volkswagen Group as part of the Volkswagen Group Art4All Family Sunday cooperation. Free admission is made possible by Hamburger Bahnhof International Companions e.V. The Open House is a contribution to the art and culture programme for UEFA EURO 2024 and is supported by the Stiftung Fußball & Kultur EURO 2024 gGmbH with federal funds. The Open House is supported by Kulturprojekte Berlin.
