Literature at Fasanenplatz 1910-1933: “The desire to protest” – Galerie Friese | 31.10.2024

Prof. Dr Detlev Schöttker from the Leibniz Centre for Literary and Cultural Research (ZfL) is hosting an evening at Galerie Friese on 31 October 2024 that will focus on the networks of literary modernism in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. The event starts at 6:30 pm.

Bertolt Brecht lived in Spichernstraße, George Grosz on Hohenzollerndamm. Writers and publishers, artists and gallery owners met around Fasanenplatz. Between 1910 and 1933, this square became a centre of literary and artistic life.

Hanns Zischler reads texts (poems, prose and dialogues) by Franz Pfemfert, Georg Heym, Arnold Bronnen, Bertolt Brecht, Ernst Toller, Walter Benjamin, Mascha Kaleko, Heinrich Mann and others.
