Editors’ Choice

On 15 March 2025, Galerie Verein Berliner Künstler presents the group exhibition THE NEW YOU-WE-ME. Under the festival leitmotif “What stands between us”, 16 artists will show their photographic positions as part of the EMOP Berlin – European Month of Photography 2025 programme.

The exhibition uses the expressive means of photography to examine private and public humanity in current events and invites visitors to engage in dialogue. Images explore interstitial spaces, transformation and the relationship between identities and society. In this way, reality is created, asserted and can also be manipulated.

Sigi Torinus, Hiersein, digital print on birch, 40×40 cm, 2025, edition of 3

If images are no longer reliable, what tasks do they have? Is there stillness in images and what is a beautiful image? Do images create closeness or distance to people and things and if so, how does this manifest itself visually? How do we capture tensions and points of reference?

Siegfried Dengler, At the window, fine art pigment print on museum paper, 38 x33 cm, 2021

Photography plays a significant role in our lives. Memories, images in our head are a type of photography. We speak images. Our lips form them while our head embodies them. I take a picture. You see the picture and make a picture of it. We live the images. Dialogue is unavoidable. But how does the other person perceive the image? How can the photographic image have an effect in the present? Do we still trust the images, our interpretation?

Laura Kärki, When saying No (from the series: Good Bad), Printed on art glass LumexG, 30x40x3 cm, 2022

With this exhibition, the Berlin Artists’ Association is positioning itself as part of EMOP Berlin, the European Month of Photography, which takes place every two years. Current positions in photography are shown in more than 100 exhibitions throughout Berlin as part of this programme.

Katrin Salentin, Sadoma, Collage, 27,5×20,5 cm, 2024

The festival of international standing attracts photographers, art collectors and photography enthusiasts to the city and thus reaches a broad public. With this exhibition, we encourage a dialogue with the medium of photography and strengthen the gallery as a relevant venue for the art scene in Berlin.
