In June this year, ZAW will launch an expert-led initiative that will bring together curators, artists, institutional leaders and collectors through a customised offering of an exclusive platform to discuss artistic, institutional and societal challenges.

Zurich Art Weekend traditionally takes place in the Swiss art metropolis the weekend before the world’s most anticipated annual art fair, Art Basel, and is the perfect prelude to a week-long art experience for art professionals travelling to Basel from all over the world. Zurich Art Weekend has established itself as a catalyst that makes Zurich a place to experience and encounter art, a thriving artistic centre where diverse voices come together.

The eighth edition of Zurich Art Weekend celebrates the city’s international art scene and establishes itself as a leading content and networking platform with its extensive programme of over 150 events. By bringing together the most important players in the art world, it promotes exchange and dialogue, which is complemented by over 75 exhibitions.

Following the successful 2024 edition, which attracted an estimated 45,000 visitors, this year’s ZAW will include more than 70 venues and exhibitions. It promises a highly topical programme that will appeal to artists, collectors, curators and art enthusiasts alike. ZAW showcases the national and international breadth of Zurich’s contemporary art scene through a wide-ranging programme developed in collaboration with internationally renowned institutions, galleries, universities, experimental off-spaces and the city’s esteemed public and private collections. ZAW aims to be an inclusive and accessible platform. Its programme is free and open to all.

The extensively curated programme of events including guided tours, readings, workshops, talks, gallery breakfasts and other social events will continue alongside the long-standing formats of art walks and interdisciplinary discussions in the schwarzescafé / Luma Westbau. Following a pilot project in 2024, the cross-location performance programme will be continued. It will present influential artists, choreographers and performers from across the city.

About Zurich Art Weekend
Launched in 2018, Zurich Art Weekend is driven by a collective vision to unite the city’s art ecosystem and strengthen its participation in the global art conversation. Under the leadership of the founding members and an esteemed committee of curators, artists, museum directors and critics, Zurich Art Weekend has grown over the years from 35 to 70 art venues and organisations as partners, presenting over 150 events.

For this year’s ZAW, the organisers would like to thank their main partner, Bank Julius Baer, as well as their long-standing partners such as the Swatch Art Peace Hotel, the City of Zurich, Zurich Tourism, the Hubert Looser Foundation and 25hours Hotels. We sincerely thank them for their support, which enables the Zurich Art Weekend to intensify culturally and socially relevant initiatives.
