Since June 2021, KW Institute for Contemporary Art has been inviting over 15.000 visitors to the exhibitions free of charge during special extended opening hours on Thursdays from 6–9 pm. Due to the cuts made by the Berlin Senate for the 2025/2026 budget, this offer can unfortunately not be maintained in future.

The initiative, which aims to promote democratic cultural participation, welcomed over 6.000 visitors on 32 Thursdays in 2024 alone.
The budget cuts threaten the city’s longstanding cultural diversity and creativity. As KW Institute for Contemporary Art, we are committed to preserving a vibrant international and local art and cultural scene – for everyone. The fact that free access to art and culture is being put on hold due to the cuts is a major blow to cultural participation in Berlin. This was also clearly demonstrated by the abolition of Museum Sunday Berlin at the end of 2024.

Thursday, 10 April 2025, 6–9 pm
Thursday, 17 April 2025, 6–9 pm
