The Festival of Future Nows 2025 returns to its place of origin: ten years after its first edition, the festival will once again transform the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin into an open field for artistic encounters, experiments and visions from 31 October to 2 November 2025.

Jointly presented by the Neue Nationalgalerie and the Institut für Raumexperimente e. V., the festival’s third edition will bring together around 100 international artistic positions – ranging from young emerging voices to established names. The dense program includes performances, sound works, choreographies, dance, workshops and interventions, both subtle and large-scale, offering visitors unusual and thought-provoking encounters inside and outside the museum.

The festival was first launched in 2014 on the occasion of the graduation of the “Institut für Raumexperimente” program led by Olafur Eliasson at the Berlin University of the Arts. Following a second edition at Hamburger Bahnhof in 2017, it now returns to the iconic museum building designed by Mies van der Rohe.

At its core, the Festival of Future Nows explores how art can serve as a space for collective thought, imagination, and envisioning future forms of living together. Visitors are invited to engage in dialogue with the artists and with one another.

The festival is organized by Klaus Biesenbach (Director, Neue Nationalgalerie), Lisa Botti (Curator, Neue Nationalgalerie), Christina Werner (Institut für Raumexperimente e.V.), Ricarda Bergmann (Neue Nationalgalerie), Nikola Richolt (Neue Nationalgalerie) and Sophie Uebach (Institut für Raumexperimente e.V.).
